Quality slipped a little, but they were still on par with their competitors in price and quality. Then they moved the import Hamers to China and the Slammers to Indonesia. Then they made the "Slammer by Hamer" guitars in China for the beginner market to compete with Squier. These would probably be on par with the Fender "Standard" MIM's or maybe more appropriately Epiphone. Then they split off the brand and made just plain "Hamer" (no USA) in Korea, offering a few of their more popular models.

They made a superstrat, tele, strat and their signature DC style, maybe a couple of others? These guitars I would easily put on the level of Fender's higher end MIM's if not better. They were built to pretty tight specs in Korea, and I think they went through QC and set-up in the US Hamer factory. Hamer USA was not happy about having their name on an import guitar. The very first import guitars (early 90's I think?) that Hamer put out were called the Hamer Slammer Series. Nope, I found that after I got myself back to where I was level enough to play.I found quality gear in and at every price point, the key is to have good gear yes.but really there's only 1 'A' rig for you.everything else is at least a 'B' on down.Well, it's not that cut and dry really. anybody that tells you they don't like inexpensive guitars in general, find them, Meh for the most part.most likely can only perform in the Bedroom.with their guitar that is, just to be clear (LOL). I myself own several Partscaster's, and a Classic '60s Stratocaster that I had my set of '69 CS 'Abby' pups put in it that set around for a few years in my Drawer, and floated around here for sale for a long while (I would like Thank you all for NOT buying them.LOL, cuz Sheesh that Strat, is crazy good). I also know of some Pro.'s that refuse to buy a Brand New USA Fender, when for less you can buy a US made, MIM (the Deluxe style MIM's.really, they are US made).OR they ain't buying Brand New.Period (LOL). and Brown St.), and until a few years ago due to a Medical condition himself, and he still owns it.a Fernandez Stratocaster. I had a good Friend that was the first Lead Guitarist for the 17 time ACM 'Entertainer of the year' Band (who got their name from a little town in Northern Mi., Beaverton, Mi.Sawyer Rd.

Now, if you want me to hand you a hand full of Crap, and tell you that ONLY Vintage is good enough, OR you have to spend $2k on up for a quality electric, OR $4k or more for an acoustic.you will NEVER see that in any freakin' thing I post, as I know better. I really wasn't a Corksniffer as some see me as, I've always had a guitar fetish according to my Wife.but being broker than the 10 commandments.still, I regained my appreciation for/of 'Just the Guitar'. but also flat out cured me of my 'Corksniffing' ways. Ya' know.I've been a Vintage guy for as long as I can remember, and when I lost all of my Collection when I had to pay for my Cancer treatments.I made post about how the Heavy dose's of Chemo. The pups in these MIK Hamer's are SD designed.whatever?, all I DO know is they are pretty sweet and as I stated, all that was TRULY needed on that Echotone was a new Harness, and all else was good.as good as your gonna' get for under $300. and both get played out LOL.$265., buy the thing, and if it's MIK you got a gift. and as good as it gets.btw, I ran into that 'Kid' about a year ago at a gas station as I went thru his town, he remembered me.I wouldn't have ever remembered him I can tell you as he is now a Man for sure, and he still has that guitar and a '52 AVRI if I remember from our conversation. I would to this day LOVE to come across some of the Japanese 'Mickey Mouse' eared guitars I used to come across, as they tend to have a 'Healthier' neck on 'em.But I still remember the day I bought that Echotone, $200. I made sure a Student got it that was taking lessons at my Buddy's shop, my Friend just put a new harness in for the kid, that was it because just like every other MIK at that time, the pups were OK but the pot's, cap., wiring wasn't up to snuff, when he put the new harness on I swear the guitar sounded as good as it looked.

Brother, I posted a Thread here several years ago about a MIK Echotone I came across for a couple of hundred dollars, and IF the neck wasn't as skinny as a spaghetti noodle I'd still own it, the danged thing was stupid good.
